Lecture Modelling and Systemidentification
The aim of this course is to teach techniques of dynamic system modeling and system identification. These models are, for example, needed for the control of mechatronic systems or the state estimation and prediction of natural systems. Starting with static linear systems, we discuss dynamic system models in the time domain and frequency domain, both black-box as well as physical (white box) models. In addition, the main concepts of system identification and parameter estimation and basics about the numerical algorithms for the solution of optimization problems that occur are taught. The course consists of three to four lecture hours per week and one to two hours of exercises.

Microtests
During the semester, three short multiple choice exams take place, on the following dates:
- Microexam 1: November 18, 2014

- Microexam 3: January 27, 2015

In order to be able to participate at the final exam, participants should have obtained at least 40 % of the total points of all three microexams.
Exercises
Each Tuesday an exercise sheet is distributed, and the solutions can be returned by teams of 1, 2 or 3 people, on the next Tuesday. Exercise solutions can partially or completely be done in the computer pool during the exercise sessions. Participation in these sessions is voluntary. In order to be able to participate at the final exam, participants should have obtained at least 40 % of the total points of all 12 exercise sheets.
In addition to the lecture, tutorials are held at Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the IMTEK computer pool (074-00 023). The attendance is voluntary, and is highly recommended.
Script
During the semester, a short script is written to serve for self study and exam preparation. The latest version will be found at this location. Another useful script gives background in Systems Theory but is in German.
