ZEE Miniworkshop on Renewable Energy Research in Korea and Germany

Tuesday, August 19, 2025, 9:00 - 16:00

livMatS Biomimetic Shell

Aim of this workshop is to bring together South Korean and German researchers who work in the field of renewable energy.  It is organized by Freiburg University's Center for Renewable Energy (ZEE). Speakers include:

  • Prof. Bong-Soo Kim, Kyungnam College University of Information and Technology (fuel cells and polymers)
  • Prof. Hae-Seok Lee, Korea University (solar photovoltaic cells)
  • Prof. Kibong Kim, Korea University (heat pumps, general heating and renewable energy systems)
  • Prof. Moritz Diehl, University of Freiburg (introduction of ZEE, optimal control of renewable energy systems)
  • Jakob Harzer, University of Freiburg (optimal control of airborne wind energy systems)
  • Ricarda Hogl, University of Freiburg and Fraunhofer ISE (battery systems)
  • Wonsun Song, Greenventory (joint design and control optimization for seasonal thermal energy storage systems)

Additional participants are, among other, 16 BSc students from Korea, and ZEE members. Sustainable Systems Engineering students (and other students from Freiburg) are warmly welcome to attend the event.

Preliminary Timetable, we initially meet at the entrance of Building 102, and later move to the Biomimetic Shell.
