In this talk we discuss aspect of modelling, optimization, and control in Siemens research.  Central application examples are robotic task and motion planning and autonomous navigation of mobile vehicles (AGVs).  Especially, model-based approaches are key for flexible production of the next generation in automation, where classical static workflows are replaced by dynamically adapting workflows based on sensor inputs.
