The use of variable-speed variable-displacement pumps paired with electric motors for powering construction machinery is proving to be advantageous under numerous points of view. Efficient control of such a system however is not trivial, the few dynamics are non-linear, and the description of various aspect of the system is only available in form of Look-Up tables, which results in a non-linear, non-convex and non-smooth problem. Approximation methods that allow for real time implementation of such controller will be studied.
