Below is some information from the time of the event.

 


The aim of this event is to give both, theoretical background and hands-on practical knowledge in the field of Model Predictive Control (MPC) and Reinforcement Learning (RL). Participants will learn the main concepts of the two approaches along with their similarities and differences.

Locations

  • The event takes place in Kollegiengebäude I, Platz der Universität 3, Freiburg OpenStreetMap, Google Maps

    • We have reserved tables for up to 20 people (first come, first serve). For ~1,50€/h (max. 4,50€ if you also get drinks/snacks) we will play boardgames from a selection of over 1000 games!

Content:

The event will be divided into three parts, each one has a dedicated webpage.

  1. Course on Model Predictive Control and Reinforcement Learning taught by Prof. Dr. Joschka Boedecker and Prof. Dr. Moritz Diehl, both from the University of Freiburg. The lecture topics are accompanied by intensive computer exercises. Course prerequisites and detailed content are available at the teaching page.
  2. Mini course How to develop a research project by by Dr. Frank Krüger and Dr. Christian Jäger both from University of Freiburg. 
  3. Workshop on Embedded Optimization and Learning for Robotics and Mechatronics with external invited lecturers that will cover state-of-the-art techniques and applications. 

Registration details:

  • External PhD students (not affiliated with ELO-X) interested in enrolling to the event may expect to pay a participation fee of 450 Euro. This fee will cover, among others, the expenses for the catering, the welcoming receptions and the dinner on Friday 7th October. The optional social event on the weekend will require a minor cost contribution.
  • Please notice that the participation will be limited to approximately 50 people (first come first serve).
  • The registration will close on September 15, 2022 | late registrations are open
  • All the participants will receive an email with the payment details by mid September.
  • All the registered participants should have received an email with the payment details, if not write to andrea.ghezzi@imtek.uni-freiburg.de.

Course registration (only for PhD students not affiliated with ELO-X):

Late registrations are open with the following options and participation fees:

  • OPTION 1: Registration to the course Model Predictive Control and Reinforcement Learning and all the social event included between October 3, 19:00 and October 7, 23:59. Participation fee is 420 Euro. | not available anymore (if you are really motivated to join, send an email to andrea.ghezzi@imtek.uni-freiburg.de)
  • OPTION 2: registration to the Workshop and all the social event included between October 10, 10:30 and October 11, 17:30. Participation fee is 280 Euro.

Note that it is possible to register for both options (total participation fee will be 700 Euro).

Confirmation email will be send out approximately on a daily base, participants will be accepted until the maximum number of participants is reached.

Participation Certificates

Participants can ask for a combined certificate for either the course, the workshop, the mini exam and the project work. For this, please fill out the following form until the 21th of October.
