This presentation highlights the activities of the Automatic Control Laboratory at Offenburg University of Applied Sciences, with a primary focus on application-oriented teaching complemented by selected research activities. The laboratory’s core expertise includes binary logic design, classical PID and cascaded control, and their application in production and motion control systems. The talk will present several experimental setups used in teaching and discuss lessons learned from bridging theory and practice in control education. Ongoing research in flight control will also be briefly presented. Finally, I will present the topics planned for my research semester at the Syscop Laboratory, including advanced control methods and their use in teaching, laboratory setups, and applied research.
